Dr. David Marsh

Orthopedic Surgeon

About David G. Marsh, MD

Dr. David Marsh joined the Center for Orthopedics in 2014. He grew up in a working-class family near Youngstown and earned his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University (2002). He also attended the Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine, worked as a resident in orthopedic surgery at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, and completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine. The fellowship years of Dr. Marsh’s education provided him with knowledge and expertise in the fields of orthopedic treatment, surgery and rehabilitation.

Before returning home to Northeast Ohio, Dr. Marsh served as a team physician for pro athletes on the Houston Rockets, Texans and Astros. This experience, Dr. Marsh says, “provided me with the opportunity to work at the highest level on some of the most prized shoulders and knees—my specialties—in the world.”

Dr. Marsh, though, eventually decided that his favorite patients are “everyday people,” including high-school athletes and weekend warriors. “My goal is to help people resume at full strength the activities that bring them joy.”

My Approach to Your Recovery

Dr. Marsh’s training in orthopedic care is top-notch and—thanks to his upbringing—so is his approach to you and your well-being.

“I grew up in a close-knit, hard-working, blue-collar family in Vienna, Ohio, near Youngstown,” says Dr. Marsh, “and my parents inspired my decision to pursue medicine. Every day I draw upon my mother’s emotional intelligence and my dad’s analytical strengths.”

Dr. Marsh brings a high level of care and concern to each of his patients. “When you care about people in a genuine manner, they know that, and they’re willing to trust me,” he says. “And I need that from my patients so that they know I have their best interests at heart. When I say, ‘Okay: no weight-bearing activity for six weeks,’ you know I’m saying it because I care, because I want you to heal properly and get back to doing the things you love to do.”

Dr. Marsh lives in the Lorain/Amherst area with his wife and three young sons. He specializes in knee and shoulder injuries, and he served as the team physician for the Cleveland Gladiators, the Lake Erie Crushers, and multiple high schools in Lorain County.

Dr. Marsh was great! I had surgery for a rotator cuff and biceps tear. I was very impressed with his knowledge, experience and willingness to address any concerns or questions I had during the whole experience.

I thought Dr. Marsh looked very young to be an experienced surgeon, but he has proved to be a great doctor. He takes the time to explain things and answer my questions.

Dr. Marsh accommodated me by changing his schedule in order to repair a severely torn hamstring. Saw him on a Tuesday and I had surgery on Wednesday. Thank you again Dr. Marsh for repairing my muscle and tendon.
